Shavasti, also known as the author John L. Payne, has facilitated workshops across six continents—Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australasia—in countries as diverse as the USA, Canada, India, Brazil, Australia, and South Africa, alongside numerous other international locations.
Over the course of leading more than 500 weekend workshops, he has helped thousands of individuals and facilitated over 8,000 private healing sessions.

His rich professional background includes extensive training in Systemic Family Constellations, Bert Hellinger’s methodologies, Bio-Energetics, NLP, the Barbara Brennan School of Healing (PS1 & PS2), a three-year graduation from Walking the Shaman’s Path with Patricia White Buffalo, immersion in the wisdom of traditional South African healers and the Sangoma tradition, and intensive practice within Zen monasteries.
Shavasti’s own life journey began with an international childhood across Asia, Europe, and Australasia, experiencing what it meant to navigate the world as a highly perceptive, mixed-heritage child against a backdrop of severe adversity, trauma, and emotional hardship.
This personal path toward healing, combined with an enduring thirst for truth and direct experience, informs every aspect of his work today. With this depth of lived experience, he invites you to walk with him on your own sacred discovery—uncovering the genuine, authentic self, entirely devoid of masks or pretences.
